lindy hop + authentic jazz

I am an accomplished lindy hop, balboa, and authentic jazz dancer and educator with over 15 years of experience on the social dance floor. With David Lee, I am the co-champion of the infamous 2013 Lindy Focus Al and Leon Partnered Solo Jazz contest and I previously served as staff instructor and education coordinator for the 9:20 Special, San Francisco’s longest running weekly lindy hop dance. I have also placed in numerous competitions across the United States and around the world including the Canadian Swing Championships, Lindy Focus, Lindy on the Rocks, Camp Jitterbug, and Lindy Bout. As a teacher, I love to help students build their confidence and find their voice through connecting with music, history, and community. I am available for class series, weekend workshops, private lessons, choreography, coaching, performances, consulting, MCing, judging and probably other things (send me your idea!).

The Lindy Hop is a Black American social dance, particularly popular in the 1930s and 40s. Want to learn more about it? This episode of Rough Translation is a great place to start.
